PAST CLIMATE MAPS
Heading into the last week of the month, we find ourselves in a bit of a rainfall deficiency for the month. After a wet spring in which we experienced a more than adequate amount of rain, we now find ourselves looking for more timely rains. I think rainfall will remain somewhat on the slow side but look for activity to begin to pick up again after the first week. Overall precipitation will total drier than normal.
Temperatures rebounded in July to finish near to slightly warmer than normal after a cool start. Temperatures should continue this trend and finish near normal for the month.
Fair skies are favored to open the month on Thursday, August 1.
Expect increasing clouds with a chance of a passing shower or thunderstorm on Friday, August 2. Rainfall totals should be light.
Sunshine is favored on Saturday, August 3.
Clouds with showers and thunderstorms are expected on Sunday, August 4. Light to locally moderate rainfall totals are possible.
Sunny skies and warmer temperatures are favored on Monday and Tuesday, August 5-6.
Our first extended opportunity of showers and thunderstorms is expected from Wednesday to Friday, August 7-9. Moderate to locally heavy rainfall totals are possible.
Partly to mostly sunny skies are favored from Saturday to Wednesday, August 10-14. I can't rule out an isolated shower or thunderstorm developing during the day. Consider yourself lucky if one passes over you. Temperatures should warm.
Prospects increase, as well as clouds, for widespread showers and thunderstorms from Thursday to Tuesday, August 15-20. Moderate to locally heavy rainfall totals are possible.
Partly cloudy skies with scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible from Wednesday to Friday, August 21-23.
Sunshine is favored on Saturday, August 24.
Variable cloudiness is expected from Sunday to Saturday, August 25-31. Passing evening showers and thunderstorms are possible with moderate rainfall totals.
